Chapter Thirteen
Jace
He closed in for another magical kiss. Aidy was easing him in with slow seduction. A heated caress of her lips that seared through him. No relief was in sight, and he knew right then heâd never get enough of her.
Hands on her firm ass, he pulled her close. She was a work of art, custom fit for his palms. He pressed her hips down into his thighs. Damn the discomfort because the pleasure of her soft center nestled up against his raging desire turned off the pain receptors in his brain. It was all about pleasure now.
Their mouths melded together as they rhythmically gasped, trying to manage their frantic breathing. She took his hand and placed it on her breast. If Beloved had been a larger town, they would have gotten a lot further than second base before the car stopped. They separated long enough to pay the driver and get out.
He practically danced to her door to open it for her. She rummaged through her purse searching for the keys. His impatience was obvious by the way he moved like a tiger on the prowl.
Once the door was open, she tugged him inside where they picked up right where they left off. Her place was small and quaint. He couldnât think of a single decent place in New Jersey where a person could get a house as cute as hers on what she had to make as a physical therapist. She wasnât only smart and beautiful, but talented and wise.
The night was mild and temperate. The air was clear and dry. If he were back east, it would be muggy and sticky, and the bugs would be out in full force. But they were in Beloved, and the night cast romantic, mottled shadows as the moonbeams danced between the curtains. The crickets sang in the background, creating the perfect melody.
Aidy flipped on the switch to reveal an abundant bouquet of flowers on the round dining table just inside her door.
âPretty,â he murmured.
âFrom my garden,â she said hazily. âWant a drink? I have both kinds. Soft and hard.â
She whipped around, grinning at the double entendre, and touched her fingers to her lips. âOops.â
âThose words were on my lips,â he said darkly. He pulled his phone from his pocket. âDo you mind if I make a quick call?â
âNo, do you want something?â She pointed to the kitchen and moved in that direction.
He used his phone and called Sharon. He was probably waking her. He felt bad, but he was having a great time and knew she wouldnât mind.
Just as he suspected, she was groggy when she answered. He told her where he was and ended the call quickly.
âAll good?â Aidy asked.
âVery.â He closed the gap between them and pulled her into his arms. âYou asked me if I wanted something. I donât want anything but you.â He swept her hair up from her neck, scooping it with both hands and letting his fingers play with the silky strands. âDid you wear your hair short in high school?â He tried to remember what was so different about it.
